In GoF. we have the Great Floo invasion of Privet Drive, Dudley being Ton-Tongue-Toffeed, Harry arriving at the Burrow, meeting Bill and Charley and learning of Mrs. Weasley's disapproval of the twins' business venture, the travel vis Portkey to the World Cup campground, the preparations for the Cup and the match itself, the Death Eaters' attack on the Roberts family, the aftermath with the Dark Mark and poor Winky's sacking, then the trip home and the yellow journalism that follows.
In TRG, we have the meeting of Strike and Robin with the Edensors and the acceptance of the case, Robin's her creation of Rowena Ellis. her visit with Pru, where she picks up clothes and Strike gets some helpful books about cult indoctrination, and Robin's three visits to the temple, where we meet characters like Jonathan Wace, Becca Pirbright and Taio Wace and after which she is officially recruited. We also see a lot of research and interviews pre-Chapman: the review of Kevin Pirbright's writings, the police file obtained from Wardle, the identification of some other ex-members (including Jordan Reany, Paul Draper and Cherie Givens), the subcontractors scouting at the farm and identification of the camera's blind spot and and interviews with Fergus Roberts, Henry Worthington-Fields, Shelia Kennett and Niamh Pirbright. In extra-Chapman business, we see Strike's visit with Lucy, his ill-advised tryst with Bijou, Ryan and Robin's first major row and an introduction to the agency's secondary cases of Bigfoot and the Stalking Franks. There are a lot of new characters introduced in TRG. but so far, I don't see much of a connection to any of the people we meet in GoF: Amos Diggory, Ludo Bagman, Barty Crouch Sr. and Winky. The only connecting element that I can maybe sorta see is the dress clothes. Robin gets three great-looking and expensive outfits from Prudence to wear to the temple, while Harry and Ron both get their first dress robes. But, even this is a bit of a stretch. Robin is gifted the clothes, Harry's and Ron's ar purchased. And, Robin's are top-of-the-line and stylish and she is delighted with them; Ron's are secondhand and out-of-date, and he hates them. Overall, a pretty weak link. So, overall, I'd have to say, nothing much to see here, folks.
I'll let you know if anything turns up once we get to Chapman Farm/Hogwarts.
