There is a lot to talk about in the next Real-Time Re-Read post, so I decided to collect the video and lyrics to White Lion's "Little Fighter" in its own post.
The band was a favorite of Peter Fleetwood, the supposed father of Rupert, who died in an avalanche when Rupert was only two. Rupert had a video of his father singing "Little Fighter" to him as a baby, so, according to Decima, he adopted the tune as a kind of "personal theme song." Onc of his prized possessions was a vintage band t-shirt, which Rupert considered "lucky" but which, according to his roommate Zacharias, he destroyed shortly before his disappeared.
Are you cryin tonight? Are you feelin' all right?I told the world that you were down on your luckYou were one of a kindOne who'd never give inEven when they put a price on your headHas anyone heard the tales you tellOr seen the scars you wear?Did anyone speak up when you fell?Does anybody care?Rise again, little fighterAnd let the world know the reason whyShine again, little fighterAnd dont let 'em end the things you doAnd you were one with a causeAnd a reason to beYou were a fighter for peace on this earthAnd you were never afraidYou put your life on the lineAnd you were always alone out on the seaWithout a weapon in your handYou came to fight a warThey took your life but didn't knowThat you would never dieRise again, little fighterAnd let the world know the reason whyShine again, little fighterAnd don't let 'em end things you doAre you feelin all right?'Cause I care, careRun along, little fighterOh 'cause I was there beside youNever stop believing, so riseRiseRiseRise again, little fighterAnd let the world know the reason whyShine again, little fighterAnd don't let 'em end things you doRise again little fighter (don't stop believing)And let the world know the reason whyShine again, little fighter (and keep on moving)And don't let 'em end things you doYeah, don't let 'em ever end the things you do
Tyler certainly had an unlucky life, between adoptive parents who didn't want him, the slander he faced after the car accident and his eventual murder in the silver vault. He was "one of a kind" in that he was the only one willing to protect Chloe, Ian Griffiths put a "price on his head" and, if Tylor didn't have scars pre-vault, he certainly did after his corpse was mutilated-- the cross carved on his back, for instance. Specifically, Tyler's grandmother complained no one "spoke up" for him after he fell from grace amid the false accusations of causing the car accident. Indeed, there were few who genuinely cared about him. He had a "cause"-- and a willingness to fight to free Chloe from her abuser, which put his life on the line, as he set out for London alone in hopes of establishing a new identity in which Chloe could join him. Though Griffith took Tyler's life, thanks to Strike and Robin, the world will know what he tried to do, so, hopefully, the story of his courage will never die.
Tyler was a "proper man" and a proper little fighter, who unfortunately lost his battle.
